What You Can Do To Minimize Bruising Before Your Tear Trough Correction Appointment
The degree of bruising that can occur during Tear Trough Correction is almost unpredictable and varies from patient to patient. We ONLY use microcannulas to inject our fillers which can help to minimize bruising, downtime, and discomfort.
We advise our patients to avoid taking any of the following medications for 7-14 days prior to their scheduled appointment:
- Aspirin
- NSAIDS such as Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, and Naproxen
- Vitamin E
- Fish Oil
- Omega 3 Fatty Acids
- St. John’s Wort
We ask our patients to inform us if they are taking Coumadin, Lovenox, Plavix or any other blood thinning agent or supplement as well. These medications can increase the likelihood of bleeding and bruising at the injection site.
While bruising is not necessarily harmful, it is one of the most common risks associated with filler injections. Some patients prefer to schedule their Tear Trough injections around important social events if they are worried about any bruising that could affect their appearance. It is important to know that even if these medications are discontinued for weeks, bruising is still a possibility.
