Upper Blepharoplasty Recovery Time-Easier and Quicker than You may Think!
For both men and women, the eyes are one of the features that stand out most on the face. Unfortunately, eyes also show visible signs of aging faster than other areas on the face and body. Luckily, the Upper Blepharoplasty treatment is a quick and easy way to achieve a more youthful look and restore vitality to the face, all the while offering longer term results.
The biggest question and/or concern most patients express when thinking about getting the Upper Blepharoplasty treatment is, “What can I expect in terms of recovery? Does it hurt? When can I return to work?” Of course, all of these questions and more will be addressed during your consultation with Dr. Leong, but we will cover a few key points that are good to know before you even come in for your consultation…
For most patients, two weeks is the standard recovery time from the Upper Blepharoplasty Treatment. While incisions may still be faintly seen at this point (especially with eyes closed), and minor swelling could still be lingering, overall you should be fine to return to work even after one full week post treatment. Dr. Leong can certainly prescribe a pain medication if requested for recovery time, but most patients report not even needing to use it! Stitches are removed about five days post-surgery and you can start wearing making after one week, which is why a lot of women in particular feel comfortable returning to work after one week.
Please keep in mind that recovery time can always take longer depending on the individual and depending on whether the Upper Blepharoplasty is performed at the same time as a Face Lift or alongside a Lower Blepharoplasty. Some patients also request a tear trough filler treatment at the same time as an upper blepharoplasty. Dr. Leong performs this combination of procedures routinely, but he always warns patient this can extend the recovery for a couple of days.
Of course, by avoiding blood thinners such as aspirin, about 14 days prior to surgery, sleeping on an inclined pillow after treatment, and avoiding excessive exercise will all aid in the ease of your recovery time too.
