This is a 71 year old facelift patient from Pittsburgh. He told us he wanted to look a youthful as he feels – he maintains a very active lifestyle. He is an avid Harley-Davidson rider! He was particularly bothered by his sagging cheeks, jowls, and neck skin. Dr. Leong performs many facelift surgeries on male patients. There are specific issues that arise with male patients that are less of a factor with female patients. Male facelift patients typically have somewhat heavier facelift soft tissues and so the technical approach to lifting this tissue is different than with female patients, requiring a more sturdy lift. Another key issue is that male facelift patients are often very concerned about the quality of the incisions because they cannot hide the scar as easily as women with their hair. Dr. Leong uses the same expert closure techniques with men as he does women. Please see the pictures below that detail the outstanding incision healing. Finally, because of men’s facial hair, Dr. Leong uses a special approach to manage the position of the facial hair after the facelift procedure. It’s very important that the facelift surgery not elevate the sideburn or create a step-off along the hairline, all details that you give away that the patient had a facelift procedure.
From this frontal view you can see that the jowls and neck sagging are much improved after the facelift. Very importantly, the patient looks completely natural.
Male facelift patients are very concerned about the quality of their incisions, and rightly so given their lack of hair to hide the evidence of the surgical procedure. As you can see in these pictures, the patients incisions have healed beautifully. Dr. Leong’s goal is that the incisions should not be visible even under close viewing. Just as important as how invisibly the incision heals is making sure that the location of the incision does not change the position of the sideburn or the hairline behind the ear. As you can see, the patient’s hairline position is completely unchanged and totally natural.
