Lip Lift | Pittsburgh PA
This 57 year old lady wanted to improve the shape of her upper lip. She had several concerns. Firstly, she felt that her lip had become somewhat elongated as she aged. Secondly, she noted a small amount of asymmetry, with her left upper lip being a little smaller than her right upper lip. Finally, she didn’t like that her upper lip had rotated down a little bit and wanted to increase the “show” of her upper lip. Her greatest concern as she considered a lip lift surgery was she might end up looking artificial. She had seen many examples of lip lifts on the internet that, while succeeding in shortening the upper lip, also made patient look “done” and operated on.
Left Oblique:
Performing a successful and natural appearing lip lift require involves several key elements. Lip lift techniques have evolved in the last ten years so that natural and durable results are possible. These techniques involve repositioning the deeper muscular layer of the lip, not just pulling on the skin. Care should be taken not to remove too much tissue. Finally, truly meticulous closure of the incision is very critical. All three of these elements were incorporated into this patient’s procedure. You’ll see in her pictures that she has achieved an appropriately natural, shortened, rotated, and more symmetrical upper lip, without the problems of excessive and artificial looking surgery. She is truly thrilled with the result.
